Even though this isn’t a sports blog, nor do i claim to be a sports expert, i do love sports. like alot… plus the boys at NEYD didn’t put this up so i figured i needed to step up 😉

Charlie Davies, (a native of NH!), made his return to the field for DC United 17 months after a horrific accident that left him unable to compete in the World Cup and horribly injured. He broke every major bone in his right leg; the fibula, tibia, and even the thickest bone in the human body, the femur, was shattered and required the insertion of two titanium rods. He tore ligaments in his left knee, fractured his elbow, his eye socket and his nose. He suffered major head trauma and lacerated his bladder. The accident left one dead and the driver was sentenced yesterday to two years in prison after she plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter and maiming while driving. Davies was unconscious to see all the fans holding up #9 signs at the match where the USA ultimately qualified for the World Cup the day after his accident. He was lucky to be alive and battled back to playing form one step at a time, his return to the field a far cry from when a 50ft walk on crutches was his big accomplishment..

In his inspiring and impressive return, Davies scored two goals, the first on a penalty kick, 14 minutes apart in his return to soccer. Poised to become a real threat this season, his notorious breakaway speed and ferocious turn of pace have returned and has myself and others wondering whether Davies’ return to the sport will be one of the greatest achievements in sporting history.

“It is so small a thing to have enjoyed the sun, to have lived light in the spring, to have loved, to have thought, to have done.”- Matthew Arnold

‎”We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school,
the teachers – but never blame yourself. It’s never your fault. But it’s always
your fault, because if you wanted to change you’re the one who has got to change.”
– Katharine Hepburn

I stumbled upon this the other day and thought it was worth sharing. Smith Magazine created this new initivate called “the six word memoir”. You can go onto their website and read people’s six word memoirs on life, love, happiness, food and whole bunch of topics. It’s pretty sweet and some of them are cute and inspiring. What would your six word memoir on life be? Think about it and even contribute it to their websitem- you may be a top pick! I have to put more time into it then i have right now, i’m long winded so six words is quite a restriction 😉 Click the image to go check them out, happy reading!

“When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.”Ernest Hemingway

I think this speaks true. As much as we like to pretend that we are listening, oftentimes we are just nodding a shaking our head while thinking of 10000 other things we need to do or say in our head. Texting on our phones or surfing the internet over coffee while our friend is telling us a story.

How often when conversing with friends do you truly delve deeply into the conversation? Think about it. I am guilty as charged. WORK HARDER to try and really listen to what someone is saying to you. Trust me, you’ll have better insight when it comes to how to respond. Not only that but you will also see how rewarding truly listening to someone can be. You may just be surprised at what you learn. Communicate OPENLY and FREELY and don’t hold back. Find what helps you to be a better listener and it will make you a better communicator. peace & love xoxo

Of all the liars in the world sometimes the worst are our own fears.- Rudyard Kipling

LIVE WITH INTENTION. I saw these simple words written on a chalk board today at my school. At the time, i was in too much of a frenzied state to even pay half attention to them. But as the day wound on and i plodded along, the words kept popping up in my head.

What does it mean to truly live with intention? Do you need to know where you are going? what you are doing? I don’t think so. Intention means to “a determination to act a certain way”. I believe that life is a series of trials and errors, attempts, creations, changes. I don’t believe you have to be entirely certain as to where you are going in order to live with intention. Sometimes you might just have to fake it. Pretend that you know what you’re doing and where your going and just run with it. I’m not saying you should blindly go through life and not pursue your passions and do something just to get by. But for many of us, we are unsure where our paths might lead or what we are actually doing with our lives. The beauty is, you don’t have to know. We live to create and recreate ourselves. To try new things and fail and try again. I don’t think you need to be on a set path to live with intention, i think you simply need to put your whole heart into it and commit yourself to what you are doing at the current moment. Give it your all. Give your all to those in your life. Be open to change.  Be open to others. Put your heart into everything you do. Be willing to help others along the way instead of using people as a means to an end.

What you are doing right now isn’t necessarily what you are going to be doing in 5, 10 or 15 years, or even tomorrow! But you need to do it with all you have and treat each obstacle, job, class, challenge, as if it is the only thing on your plate. Focus your energy and GO. LIVE with INTENTION. Wake up tomorrow and challenge you day. Defy it and make it YOURS.

“What angers us in another person is more often than not an unhealed aspect of ourselves. If we had already resolved that particular issue,we would not be irritated by its reflection back to us.”- Simon Peter Fuller

“Never regret. If it’s good, it’s wonderful. If it’s bad, it’s experience.”
