I think this speaks true. As much as we like to pretend that we are listening, oftentimes we are just nodding a shaking our head while thinking of 10000 other things we need to do or say in our head. Texting on our phones or surfing the internet over coffee while our friend is telling us a story.

How often when conversing with friends do you truly delve deeply into the conversation? Think about it. I am guilty as charged. WORK HARDER to try and really listen to what someone is saying to you. Trust me, you’ll have better insight when it comes to how to respond. Not only that but you will also see how rewarding truly listening to someone can be. You may just be surprised at what you learn. Communicate OPENLY and FREELY and don’t hold back. Find what helps you to be a better listener and it will make you a better communicator. peace & love xoxo

LIVE WITH INTENTION. I saw these simple words written on a chalk board today at my school. At the time, i was in too much of a frenzied state to even pay half attention to them. But as the day wound on and i plodded along, the words kept popping up in my head.

What does it mean to truly live with intention? Do you need to know where you are going? what you are doing? I don’t think so. Intention means to “a determination to act a certain way”. I believe that life is a series of trials and errors, attempts, creations, changes. I don’t believe you have to be entirely certain as to where you are going in order to live with intention. Sometimes you might just have to fake it. Pretend that you know what you’re doing and where your going and just run with it. I’m not saying you should blindly go through life and not pursue your passions and do something just to get by. But for many of us, we are unsure where our paths might lead or what we are actually doing with our lives. The beauty is, you don’t have to know. We live to create and recreate ourselves. To try new things and fail and try again. I don’t think you need to be on a set path to live with intention, i think you simply need to put your whole heart into it and commit yourself to what you are doing at the current moment. Give it your all. Give your all to those in your life. Be open to change.  Be open to others. Put your heart into everything you do. Be willing to help others along the way instead of using people as a means to an end.

What you are doing right now isn’t necessarily what you are going to be doing in 5, 10 or 15 years, or even tomorrow! But you need to do it with all you have and treat each obstacle, job, class, challenge, as if it is the only thing on your plate. Focus your energy and GO. LIVE with INTENTION. Wake up tomorrow and challenge you day. Defy it and make it YOURS.

I LOVE the book, “The Giver” by Lois Lowry. If you haven’t read it, you should. I read it in my teens (i feel old) and it really resounded with me. Possibly one of my favorite quotes of all time comes from it. I truly love music, it makes my soul happy… and this quote gets at that. If it wasn’t so long, i’d have it tattooed on my body…. Ok maybe not, i’m not really in to the tattoo thing, at all…  but mark my word it will be on one of the walls of my house someday as artwork.
